These neighborhoods typically have older homes, many of them having been remodeled and updated. They are charming areas with wonderful old trees, green lawns and a home style for everyone. You are apt to find more ranch style homes in the older area of Mayfair, Congress Park and University Hills. But, there are other styles as well scattered throughout.
When the majority of these homes were built, they were on the edge of the country. Many homes in Observatory Park were owned by University of Denver professsors, Mayfair and Montclair early owners were often associated with Lowry Air Force Base or Stapleton International Airport. University Hills was an area for soldiers and their families who returned to Denver after WWII. There wasn’t a tree in the area in the early 1950s.
